Welcome to the Uptown Church |
|
In November 1970 Reverend Roy Gabbard was led by God to
start a church in the Over-the-Rhine area of Cincinnati,
Ohio. For many years the Uptown Church was located on
the corner of McMicken and Vine Streets in Cincinnati.
During the early part of 2008 the congregation moved to
118 W. 9th Street, Cincinnati, Ohio. The church is part
of the Gabbard Evangelistic Association, Inc. which has
its headquarters in Butler, Kentucky. The association
was started by Roy and Catherine Gabbard in 1963. The
ministry consists of The Gabbard Tabernacle, The Uptown
Church, The Gabbards Southern Gospel group and daily
radio broadcasts on various radio stations. Reverend and
Mrs. Gabbard's children are the fourth generation of
Pentecostal preachers carrying on the great heritage of
preaching the full gospel message of the New Testament
church. |
Pastors and Ministers
| Reverend Gary Gabbard, Senior Pastor |
 |
Reverend Gary Gabbard is the Senior
Pastor of the Uptown Church and the President of Gabbard
Evangelistic Association. He has been pastor since he
was 19 years old. At the age of 17 he had a drowning
accident where he was under the water for at least 15
minutes. The people at the scene gave up reviving him
after all attempts at CPR failed. Gary Miraculously came
back to life on the side of the lake. He was rushed to
the hospital where he spent 24 hours in Critical
Condition with no prognosis to live. He had double
pneumonia in every lobe of his lungs and wasn’t supposed
to live. God had other plans. Reverend Roy and Catherine
Gabbard, Gary’s parents, knew that the same God that
brought him back to life was able to heal his sick body.
Gary woke up 24 hours later feeling perfect and in fact
asked the nurse for Kentucky Fried Chicken. Immediately
the doctors were called in and new X-rays revealed a
miracle took place. His lungs were perfect and there was
no more pneumonia. God is still a miracle worker.
Rev. Gary started pastoring at 19 at the Gabbard
Tabernacle. His ministry has grown and this testimony
and many others have opened the door for his ministry.
Gary preaches a powerful healing and deliverance faith
message every Sunday morning at the Gabbard Tabernacle.
He is also a tremendous leader a great example of our
Savior’s grace and mercy. |
| Reverend Adrian Gabbard, Co-Pastor |
|
Reverend Adrian Gabbard is co-pastor of
the Uptown Church. He began preaching about 16 years ago
and has been a pastor for several years. Adrian will
allow you to experience God’s blessing with all five
senses. Sometimes he’ll have you laughing in joy or
smiling until your face is tired. Other times God will
use him to speak to your heart and you’ll be crying from
feeling God’s power so much. Adrian’s ministry is a
great blessing. He ministers in person at the Uptown
Church in the 6:00 p.m. Sunday evening service. You can
also enjoy hearing the Uptown Church Choir every Sunday
Night before Rev. Adrian Gabbard preaches. Stop by this
Sunday evening in Cincinnati and you’ll be blessed. |
| Reverend Jack Brumley, Assistant
Pastor |
|
Reverend Jack Brumley is an Assistant
Pastor of the Uptown Church. He is the best friend of
The Gabbards' father, the late Rev. Roy Gabbard. Rev.
Jack is a wonderful man of God that spent many years
very close to our father. They worked in Cincinnati
together and as a result Jack found Jesus by talking to
our father about the Bible and Jesus. They remained very
close and Rev. Brumley began working for the Lord and
has ministered at Uptown for many years. It’s wonderful
to hear Jack’s testimonies about all of the things God
has done over the years. Rev. Jack is a terrific man and
a blessing to the family of God at the Uptown Church. |
| Evangelist Charlotte Gabbard Settle |
|
Reverend Charlotte Gabbard Settle
(Sister Charlotte) began preaching a fiery message with
a heavy anointing at the age of 15 years. In fact, After
completing her first message, she prayed for a woman in
the service. God showed her that he was healing the baby
in her womb. The lady explained after the service that
the baby had died and surgery was scheduled to remove
the dead baby the following week. God completed the
miracle and the baby came back to life and was born
healthy. Sister Charlotte’s miracle ministry is now in
the 50th year and still going strong. She still preaches
every Saturday evening at 7:00 PM at the Uptown Church
in Cincinnati, Ohio. And every Sunday night at 6:00 PM
at the Gabbard Tabernacle in Grants Lick, Kentucky.
Sister Charlotte took a stand for God in High School and
he continues to bless her ministry today. She has
traveled to many places in the U.S. to preach the
Gospel. |
| Rob Gabbard, Assistant Pastor |
|
Rob Gabbard is an Assistant Pastor at
the Uptown Church and Minister Of Music. He is a minister and he works
with both of the Uptown Church and Gabbard Tabernacle choirs. Rob first
learned to play the bass guitar at the age of 13. A
couple years later, he picked out a song on the piano
that he heard from a TV commercial and within 6 months
he taught himself how to play the piano by ear and was
playing in church. In addition to his work in the
church, he plays piano for the group. He can also play
several other instruments including, organ, bass guitar,
and drums. Rob has a great ear for music and has started
writing songs.
Rob runs the sound for The Gabbards and plays the piano
in services and in revivals Rob is in the early years of
his ministry and we believe he’ll continue to blossom
into a great worker and minister for the Lord. |
Sunday School
We have wonderful Sunday School classes every Sunday morning
from 10:30 to 11:15 designed to meet the needs of ages from
beginners to teens to young adult to adult. Our teachers are
dedicated and anointed to teach the Gospel of Jesus. The Bible
says in 2 Timothy 2:15, “Study to show thyself approved unto
God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing
